If you're having trouble scanning your QR code, it could be due to a few different reasons:

  • Your phone is incompatible with eSIM or unlocked: Follow these steps to check if your phone is compatible and unlocked.

For iOS: Go to Settings > Select About > In the Carrier Lock section, if you see “No SIM restrictions”, your phone is unlocked.

For Samsung: Go to Settings > Select Mobile networks > Select Network operators > Ensure that Select automatically is off. In the Available networks, if you see the list of many operators, your phone is unlocked.

For Google Pixel: Go to Settings > Select About phone > Search for SIM status. If you see SIM locked", your phone is carrier-locked; if not, your phone is unlocked.

  • You are not scanning the QR code through the Settings menu: You won't be able to scan the eSIM QR code just by going directly to your phone's camera. You must go to the Settings menu and follow the proper process to scan an eSIM.

  • You are not connected to the Internet: Installing an eSIM requires a wireless internet connection. Without an internet connection, you cannot scan the QR code.

  • Try manual setting: If you cannot scan your QR code and are uncertain about the cause of this issue, try setting up your eSIM manually by entering the activation code attached to the eSIM profile. At Teloka, we will send you the activation code via email after you place an order successfully. When installing the eSIM, choose Enter Details Manually and enter the code.

  • Your eSIM QR code is either outdated or being scanned already: An eSIM QR code has a validity date. Once the validity date has passed, it will no longer be scannable. Besides, each eSIM can only be scanned once. You may have successfully set up your eSIM without notice in such a case. To check, go to your SIM Manager (Android device) or Cellular settings (iOS) to see if the eSIM is already on your phone.

For the best preparation, you can install your eSIM at the airport before your departure, when you can access a stable internet connection.

Note: Do not install it too soon to preserve the validity of your eSIM plan.
